Skilled: Finding routes for Refugees to use their skills and experience and contribute to the North East region's economic future (2011)

Concluding in 2011, the Regional Refugee Forum's ‘Skilled’ project helped raise awareness of the skills, qualifications and experience Refugees bring with them and the value this can have for the region's economy. It brought together Refugees, employment, careers and business start up advisers, employers and policy makers to explore and share ideas and practical recommendations on what could work to help Refugees transfer and use their skills here.

"Before I was an Asylum Seeker, but now I am a Refugee everything has changed. Since I started working I say to myself it’s a big change. When you are on benefits your life is really limited. Now I am on a salary and it’s a big relief.
